THE MILK OF DEATH IN ORIENTAL TALES OF MARGUERITE YOURCENAR

Abstract
Oriental Tales is a special work in the literary creativity of Marguerite Yourcenar, where reality becomes changeable, dreams and myth speak a new language every time. Desire and passion often burn with a brutal, almost unexpected fire, this is perhaps because they find in these short stories the ideal and necessary contrast with their unexpected brilliance.
In Albania, for the first time, Oriental Tales were translated into Albanian in 1993 by Mira Meksi. These novels also include the story about the Rozafa castle, called The Milk of Death. An ordinary work, not a major one in her long literary creativity. Usually, translations of authors into foreign languages start from their best works, but the reason for this initiative to introduce the French academic in Albania was not to present her artistic culminations, but simply the meeting point that this writer of Belgian origin had with the Balkans, in particular with Greece, the Slavs, and Albania.
